A feasibility study was carried
out with Fujifilm to explore the use of an emerging computer vision kinetics
platform for process monitoring. This academia-industry
collaboration was a follow-up study by Dr Marc Reid after he completed a
successful Early Stage Researcher Feasibility Study to develop the computer
vision methods within his team. During
the most recent study, the latest version of the software was refined, enabling
broader functionality tailored towards the industrial application. The computer vision kinetics platform was
then used to monitor process-scale mixing events non-invasively and in real
time in Fujifilm laboratories. The
outcome of the study has prompted further, longer term collaboration between Fujifilm
and Dr Marc Reid’s research group.
