CPACT feasibility study success with Clairet Scientific

27-05-2022

CPACT recently carried out an evaluation of the Tornado Hyperflux Pro Raman spectrometer for Clairet Scientific. The evaluation compared results with previous work done on older Raman spectrometers, and also tried some new applications. The new virtual slit design of the Tornado instrument dramatically increases the sensitivity of the Raman measurements.

Very high signal-to-noise performance was shown in the study with an 11-fold improvement in the lower limit of detection for a metal salt in solution. In a crystallisation experiment the onset of crystallisation was detected five minutes earlier than in previous work. In dynamic powder blending experiments there was also a significant improvement in the limit of detection for aspirin in Avicel.

The study successfully demonstrated how the new generation of Raman instruments is improving the sensitivity of the technique and enabling new applications in this growing field.
