AI initiatives in the process industries often stall between the
promise of enhanced process improvement, with tangible financial benefits and
the fear of operational, quality or safety risk. “Do we really need to add this
PAT measurement or use AI to “take control” of our process?” Balancing Risk
with Reward can easily become an irrational exercise, with risk aversion
dominating.
This webinar presents a practical, systems-engineering route to create
a business case for AI, process analytical technology, advanced control and
related digital systems. It examines five linked decision gates: problem
definition, current-state baseline, risk and assurance, economics, and benefits
realisation.
Once the risk question has been converted
into clear design constraints, with defined ownership and measurable evidence
requirements, the discussion can then “follow the money”. The webinar shows how
to benchmark current performance by product and operating mode; translate
physical and process improvements into operational and financial outcomes;
avoid double-counting yield, capacity, labour and quality benefits; and apply a
transparent KPI register as a contract between the original promise and
post-implementation evidence—because a forecast ROI is only the beginning of
the business case, not the end.
