Self-emulsifying drug delivery systems (SEDDS)
have emerged as a promising approach in pharmaceutical formulations to enhance
solubility and bioavailability of poorly water-soluble drugs. Optimization of
SEDDS formulations with regards to formulation stability, particle size and API
solubility is a cumbersome process that to a significant degree is still
relying on trial-and-error. In our work, we aim to make this process more
plannable by using machine-learning. In special, we investigate how NMR spectra
of raw excipients can be used as input features to improve overall model
performance and study the effect different data preprocessing approaches.
