CPACT Feasibility Study - Fermentation monitoring by lower cost Raman

17-03-2020

CPACT carried out a feasibility study with Clairet Scientific to demonstrate the performance of a new low cost Raman Instrument, the MarqMetrix AIl-In-One.

Raman, for online monitoring and optimisation of bio-processes. The experimental work was conducted in collaboration with IBioIC to monitor the fermentation of sugars to ethanol. It was possible to use the Raman data with offline HPLC results to build calibration models, which could then be used to predict chemical composition. This demonstrates that the Raman instrument can monitor fermentations in real time with rapid results (<1 min). The results from the study have been used by Clairet to produce an application note, and for presentations to potential customers including a presentation at the IBioIC conference).
