The Julian Morris
Travel Award honours the contributions of Professor Julian Morris FREng,
formerly of Newcastle University, to process analysis and process control.
CPACT introduced this award to allow a Doctorate student to attend a
conference and/or spend some time working with another research group in a
country different to where they are studying. The £2000 award could fully fund
a trip or be a contribution to the costs of a more expensive/extensive visit,
which should take place during the 2023 calendar year.
This year the award went to Fernando Vega Ramon from the University of Manchester.
Fernando has constructed a reaction network and a dynamic microkinetic
model to simulate n-hexadecane hydroisomerisation. Two model reduction
techniques have been proposed and applied to this reaction system and a number
of original research findings have been observed.
As a result, Fernando will use this travel award to present his
research at the ESCAPE33 conference being held in Athens in June this year.
