Effective knowledge management
is seen as vital in this completive age. It is no longer acceptable
to waste valuable time and resources re-inventing the wheel, and
as such Project 4 has been steered into the position of providing
a knowledge based resource to facilitate the sharing of all knowledge
and data within the CPACT organisation. This knowledge forms the
backbone of the Best Practice Guide, and is derived from all the
current CPACT projects with the view to adding additional information
into the knowledge base form ‘experts’ in both industry and academia.
This knowledge can stem from simple reviews and critique of work
done and approaches chosen, to providing detailed analysis of typical
problems with their solutions.
Project 4 is an enabling
project aiming in part to promote the technology transfer between
projects and throughout the membership. This should produce benefits
for the whole of CPACT, although it is clear that the PDRA's and
PhD's in CPACT are the main contributors to the IWS and the industrial
members are the main users of the system. It is important to urge
the contributors to use the system as frequently as possible to
enable the building up of an effective tool for process analysis.
The input to this project is the output of the other CPACT projects,
and its final output is a knowledgebase useable by the CPACT membership.
